My name is Paige Breyer, and I am from Portsmouth, Rhode Island. For my final project, I am exploring the possible economic and political future of Puerto Rico should the island become independent. To do this, I will interview multiple individuals while we are on the trip. Additionally, I have explored the economic and political structures of other post-colonial capitalist states in an attempt to ascertain the potential future of an independent Puerto Rico.

Recently, Puerto Rican artists have gained a lot of global recognition and popularity, for my project I want to explore how that fame has impacted the island and what role music plays in Puerto Rican culture. 


Hi! I’m Alex from Newport, RI, and my topic is specifically about the power grid, but more generally electrical infrastructure in Puerto Rico and the ways it can be optimized and made more resilient. 



Hello, my name is Zuriel Jiménez and I am from Harlem, New York. For my final project I will be researching how pharmaceutical industries from the United States have colonized Puerto Rico and contributed to the global climate crisis which predominantly affects Caribbean countries who experience disastrous hurricanes.
